Vincent (“Vince”) Acquisto passed away peacefully on January 19, 2012 after a two-month battle with cancer. Vince, 71 years young, was surrounded by his loving family at the conclusion of his fulfilling life well lived.

Vince was born March 18, 1940, in Pittston, Pennsylvania, but was raised in Buffalo, New York by his parents Anthony and Anna Acquisto. He graduated from Grover Cleveland High School in 1958 and Canisius College in 1962. Vince relocated to Baltimore, Maryland for a job with the Social Security Administration before becoming a part of the Health Care Financial Administration in the mid-1960’s. Vince earned his Juris Doctorate from the University of Maryland School of Law in 1969 and received his MBA from Loyola College of Baltimore in 1989.

Vince was a licensed attorney in Maryland and California. A partner in the Law Offices of Stephenson, Acquisto Colman, he enjoyed building a healthcare, law firm representing California hospitals. An active member in the Healthcare Financial Management Association, Vince served as the Northern California Chapter President and on the Board of Directors for the organization.

Vince married Rosemary Kavney in 1962. Together they raised two children, Charles and Maria, in Howard County, Maryland. He enjoyed his role quarterbacking or pitching in the neighborhood sports games with the numerous children and vacationing in Ocean City, Maryland as well as the family cabin in West Virginia. He relocated to California in 1989.

Vince married Susan Michelini of Modesto, California in 1995 and welcomed in her children Matthew and Melissa into the family. Vince and Sue enjoyed traveling the world together with family and friends, with numerous cruises and adventures to four continents gathering wonderful memories. Vince’s final trip found the entire, extended family vacationing in Cape Cod at the end of last summer. Vince was an avid golfer and Blackhawk Country Club member with one hole-in-one recorded. A sports enthusiast, Vince rooted for his beloved Buffalo Bills and New York Yankees, his adopted 49ers, the San Jose Sharks and the San Francisco Giants.

Vince is survived by his older brother Salvatore Acquisto, his sister-in-law Vivian Acquisto, his younger sister Dolores Osler, his brother-in-law Jack Osler, his wife Susan Acquisto, his mother-in-law Gloria Nale, his sister-in-law Sandy Medlin and her partner Kathy Harris, his former wife Rosemary Acquisto, his son Charles, daughter Maria Merrill, his stepchildren Matthew Michelini and Melissa Searle, his sons-in-law Todd Merrill and Iain Searle, his daughter-in-law Teresa Acquisto and his grandchildren, Matthew, Nicholas, Gabrielle, Bailey, Maggie, Trinity and Imogen.

Visitation will be from Noon to 4 p.m., with evening Vigil at 6 p.m., on Wednesday, January 25, at Graham-Hitch Mortuary, 4167 First Street, Pleasanton, CA 94566. A service will be held at St. Raymond Catholic Church in Dublin, CA on Thursday, January 26 at 10 a.m. to be followed by a celebration of Vince’s life at Blackhawk Country Club from Noon to 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to fighting cancer at www.cholangiocarcinoma.org.
