The Law Offices of Stephenson, Acquisto & Colman hosted an employee breakfast on Monday, June 20, 2022 as a way to reignite and recharge our staff for the second half of the year. With most of our staff still working remotely this gave them a nice opportunity to reconnect with colleagues in-person.
We were fortunate enough to hear from 2 amazing speakers — Melinda Harrison and Lex Gillette. Melinda competed in swimming in 1984 Olympics while Lex who is still an active professional athlete has competed in multiple Paralympic games. Lex is also the current world record holder in long jump and is the only blind athlete to cross the 22 ft. barrier.
Here are a few photos from our breakfast event.

Melinda Harrison attended the University of Michigan on a full athletic scholarship. She was a multi-year All American in five events, captain of the Michigan swim team in her junior and senior year, and in 2006 she was the first woman swimmer inducted into the University of Michigan Athletic Hall of Honor in 2006. As Melinda Copp, she participated in the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, where she represented Canada in the 200-metre backstroke.
In April of 2020, Melinda published her first book, Personal Next. Her research is based on hundreds of hours of interviews, in which Melinda identified nine common practices of high performers. Melinda has shared the insights gleaned from both her personal experiences and her research with a broad group of organizations and has been a guest on several prominent podcasts.
Lex Gillette is a Paralympic athlete. Competing primarily in the long jump, Lex has five Paralympic medals, four world champion titles, and is the current world record holder. He’s the only totally blind athlete to eclipse the 22-foot barrier.
As a keynote speaker, Lex’s message is There is no need for sight when you have a vision ®. He empowers his audiences to see more than just the physical world in front of them. Prepare to be inspired and motivated, to learn who you really are, and how to become the person you desire to be. It’s what Lex does. He…Teaches…People…To…See.
