Honoring the Legacy of George Colman
It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of George Colman, a founding partner of Stephenson, Acquisto & Colman and one of the most respected figures in healthcare reimbursement law. George was 82 years old.
George was there from the very beginning. When SAC was founded in 1989, he helped lay the foundation for what would become one of California’s most recognized healthcare litigation firms. Over the decades, his expertise, dedication, and steady presence shaped not only the growth of this firm, but also the broader field of healthcare law nationwide. He represented hundreds of providers, lectured across the country, published extensively, and served in leadership roles with organizations including HFMA and AAHAM. His contributions to the field leave a lasting imprint.
To those of us who knew George beyond his professional accomplishments, he was warm, funny, and genuinely beloved. Even in retirement, he never fully stepped away. Whether responding to a birthday message or acknowledging someone’s promotion, he always made a point to connect with the people around him. His warmth and humor had a way of finding their way back to us, and those moments were always a gift.
His name is on our door, and it will remain there for as long as this firm stands. George Colman helped build something enduring, and his influence remains woven into everything SAC has become. He will be deeply missed.
We extend our deepest condolences to his family, and to all who knew and loved him.
