Biography
Mr. Tomas joined the firm in 2007 as a litigation associate in the firm's Southern California office.  His practice focuses upon complex civil litigation involving health care reimbursement and insurance coverage issues.  He represents major California acute care providers in state and federal civil actions, arbitrations, mediations, settlement negotiations and other reimbursement disputes between health plans and health care providers.  He also represents acute care and rehabilitative care providers in regulatory and administrative proceedings involving the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).

Prior to joining this firm, Mr. Tomas successfully defended health care professionals and providers in complex medical malpractice actions.  In 2006, he defended the County of Los Angeles as the second-chair attorney at the trial of a wrongful death action resulting in a verdict in favor of the County.  In addition, he also represented health care professionals in the various appellate courts.

While in law school at American University in Washington, D.C., Mr. Tomas worked for the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) under the Office of the General Counsel and the Bureau of Consumer Protection.  Mr. Tomas was also a member of American University’s Administrative Law Review.  He served as the journal’s Comments Editor from 2003 to 2004.
